Description	:	Elizabeth Tourte, the daughter of Archie and Clara Louise (Hansen) Batcheller, was born July 20, 1916 at Paton, Iowa and departed this life May 20, 2010 at the Greene County Long Term Care Facility. She lived her life to the age of 93 years and 10 months. Lib, as she was known to her family and friends, attended school through the eleventh grade. On December 2, 1933. Elizabeth Batcheller was united in marriage to Leslie Clarence Tourte at Paton, Iowa. To this union were born two sons. The couple farmed their entire married life in the Paton area until their retirement.... She lived her life to the age of 93 years and 10 months. Lib, as she was known to her family and friends, attended school through the eleventh grade. On December 2, 1933. Elizabeth Batcheller was united in marriage to Leslie Clarence Tourte at Paton, Iowa. To this union were born two sons. The couple farmed their entire married life in the Paton area until their retirement. They moved into Paton in 1982. Leslie passed away in 1995. Lib continued to make her home in Paton until 2000 when she became a resident of the Greene County Long Term Care Facility. Lib was a long time member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed quilting and cooking. Left to mourn her passing are her two sons and their wives; Larry and Donna, Jerry and Loretta all of Paton, four grandchildren; Donald and Sally Tourte of Geneva, Illinois and their children David, Michael and Anne, Douglas and Becky Tourte of Paton and their children; Kelsey and Mitchel, Ronald and Libby Tourte of Ankeny and their children; Sara and Joseph and Brenda Lebeck of Clinton and her daughter, Kasha. Those who preceded her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers; Martin, Harley and Jay, a sister, Eva Walker and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Marie Lebeck. A celebration of Lib's life was held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from the Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson with Rev. David Arulnathan officiating. Burial was made in the Paton Township Cemetery in Paton. Musical selections, "On Eagle's Wings" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung by soloist, Sheilah Pound and accompanied by organist, Carson Griffith. Serving as casket bearers were Don Reed, Keith Walker, Jay Batcheller, Gary Vaughn, Jim Batcheller and Bruce Williams. Source: Brown Funeral Home
