Artemus Ulysses Ledbetter was born in Andrew County, MO., March 21, 1829. He came to Macyville, Kansas in the year 1885 with his parents, where he grew to manhood. Artemus Ulysses Ledbetter was born in Andrew County, MO., March 21, 1829. He came to Macyville, Kansas in the year 1885 with his parents, where he grew to manhood. On Dec. 5, 1907, he was married to Cordia Busby at Kirwin, Kansas. Soon after their marriage they moved to Ft. Morgan, CO, where they resided for fourteen years, when they moved to Los Angeles, CA, living there three years. They returned to Kansas in November, 1924, and resided in Phillipsburg until the summons came. Art's outstanding characteristics were his kind and tenderheartedness. He always extended a helping hand to anyone less fortunate than himself, always happy and jolly, never seeing the dark clouds on the horizon, but the brighter side of everything. He was still living in his youthful days and up to the last few days of his life was enjoying robust health. Survivors include his wife, Cordia; three sisters, Nellie Glenn of Dennison, TX; Glenna Clardy, St. Joseph, MO; Minnie Stanton, Lenexa, KS; and two brothers, James, Wellfleet, NE; and Walter, Lenexa, KS; his father and mother and one sister Daisy Montgomery, having preceeded him in death. A kind and affectionate husband and brother, a good and sympathetic friend has reached the goal of life. Funeral services were held at Macyville, KS, Sunday morning at 11:00, Rev. Lane of the local pastorate officiating and a large crowd of sympathizing friends attending.
