HISTORY OF ELNORA, ALBERTA: ************************** Arthur Albert Kidd came from Ontario to Alberta in 1906 and put in for a homestead. He returned to Ontario and came back to Alberta in 1907 with his wife and daughter. In those days Innisfill was the nearest town, and they came there by rail, then continued by wagon to the Kidd farm. In the first year they lived in a big house tent, while they built their house, which to this day still stands. Arthur was an ardent member of the Masonic Lodge, having been a Past Master of this Lodge. He also belonged to the Orange Lodge, and Knights of Pythias of which he was Past Master. Arthur was interested in community activities. He was a councillor at one time, took the census around the country for years, sat on the School board, and also on the Board of Trade. They both belonged to the Anglican church. For many years the church services were held in their home. Interred in Elnora Cemetery.
