Description	:	Arthur Bowring, former state legislator, dies CHADRON, Neb. - Arthur Bowring, 70, Merriman rancher who had served in both houses of Nebraska's old two-house legislature and also was a past president of the Nebraska Good Roads association, died Sunday in the Chadron hospital. He had been in the hospital here since last Tuesday, when he suffered a heart attack. the body was taken to Gordon, where funeral services and burial will be held. Read More	Arthur Bowring, former state legislator, dies CHADRON, Neb. - Arthur Bowring, 70, Merriman rancher who had served in both houses of Nebraska's old two-house legislature and also was a past president of the Nebraska Good Roads association, died Sunday in the Chadron hospital. He had been in the hospital here since last Tuesday, when he suffered a heart attack. the body was taken to Gordon, where funeral services and burial will be held. Bowing, who homesteaded in Cherry county in 1894 and served as county commissioner 15 years, was a member of the Nebraska house of representatives from 1927 to 1929, during which time he introduced the first drivers license bill and the original four cents gas tax bill. In 1929 he was appointed by Governor Weaver to fill a vacancy in the senate. A native of Dow City, Ia., Bowring was an active repiblican. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, and Royal Neighbors. Mrs. Bowring, who survives, is actively interested in livestock raising herself. She is a member of the Northwest Nebraska Hereford Breeders association and is chairman of the brand committee of the Nebraska Stockgrowers association. Other survivors include two brothers, Walter Bowring of Centralia, Wash., and A. E. Bowring of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Gene French, Gordon, and three stepsons, James and Donald Forester of Lincoln, and Frank Forester of Torrance, Calif.
