He was born July 10, 1920 in Liberty Township to the late Carl H. and Erna (Drewes) Rohrs. He married Regina Bindeman on January 4, 1942 and she preceded him in death on January 1, 1944. He married Denelda Meyer on January 13, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Twp. Art served as a corporal in the 14th Tank Battalion of the 9th Armored Division during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was among the first group to cross the Ludendorf Bridge at Remagen into East Germany. He was a proud member of the Ward L. Adams Post 454 of Ridgeville Corners. He was a farmer in Liberty Township and he and his wife delivered eggs to homes in the Napoleon area for 20 years. He served on the boards of the Federal Land Bank, the Henry County Red Cross and the Henry County Farm Bureau and in various offices at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon, where he was a devoted member. He is survived by his wife, Denelda, and children Ronnie (Kathleen) Rohrs of Napoleon, Jerry (Cecily) Rohrs of Archbold, Ohio, Mara Jean (James) Musshel , Nanette (David) Schwab and Gayla (Mike) Yaney all of Napoleon, along with 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a brother, Norbert (Shirley) Rohrs of Wauseon, Ohio and a sister-in-law, Janice Rohrs of Liberty Center. He was also preceded in death by sisters Rozella Slee, an infant sister and a brother, Vernon Rohrs. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Ohio with Pastor James Castello officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Ward L. Adams Post # 454 and the US Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Monday at the Rodenberger Funeral Home in Napoleon and from 10 - 11 am on Tuesday at the church prior to services. The family suggests memorials to Emanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund, Henry County Chapter of the American Red Cross, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
