Read More	Arthur Carl Piculell, Jr. March 27, 1936 - April 28, 2018 Art Piculell passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the age of 82. Art was born in East Meadow, N.Y., March 27, 1936 to Arthur Carl Piculell, Sr., and Margaret Bridgit (Mackin) Piculell. He was raised in Massapequa, N.Y., where he went to Amityville High School in 1950. After graduating from high school, Art started college at Emporia State University in 1956. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology in 1959. It was also at Emporia State University where he met the love of his life, Elsie Dee Wagner. Art and Dee were married in Cimarron, Kan., Oct. 17, 1959. In 1962, Art was accepted to the University of Kansas, School of Law and graduated with his J.D. in 1965. In 1972, Art and Dee moved to Portland, via the modern equivalent of the covered wagon - the U-Haul. Art was hired by the Gilley Company, a large real estate brokerage with clients throughout the Northwest. It was here where he met Mr. Pamplin of Fred Meyer and Georgia Pacific fame. Mr. Pamplin gave Art exclusive listings of all of Georgia Pacific's surplus timber lands. Art eventually went into business developing residential properties himself. His business was one of the few successful companies to survive the '80's recession. His businesses included the Piculell Group, Incorporated and Homesite Development, LLC. Art, while very successful throughout his career, was just as philanthropic. He and Dee made donations throughout their lives to various charities, but most notably to the University of Kansas, where they both were 2012 James Woods Green Medallion Honorees, and to Emporia State University, establishing the Dr. John E. King Endowed Professorship. After Dee's passing, Art funded the construction of a not-for-profit high school in her name, Crossroads Academy in Tonopah, Ariz. Art has left an incredible legacy but, in his passing, has financially provided for the creation of a foundation to continue giving to educational institutions in perpetuity in both his and Dee's name. Art was preceded in death by his wife, Dee; his parents; his brother, Edward; and his sisters, Patricia and Lorraine. He is survived by his sister, Dolores Woram; his son, Dr. Lee Piculell of Vancouver; and daughter, Laurie Piculell of Beaverton. Services to be held at 3 p.m., June 1, 2018, at Christ Church, 1060 Chandler Road, Lake Oswego, Oregon, 97034. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dove Lewis Animal Hospital, 1945 N.W.
