Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, Iowa. Born on Sept. 8, 1937, in Sioux City, he was the son of Linus Franklin and Ethel Marie Armstrong Johns. On Sept. 8, 1981, he married Kathleen Marie Henrich. Survivors include his wife, Kathy; four sons, Bradley (Lori) Johns of Sioux City, Donald (Joann) Hoffman of Akron, Richard (Janet) Hoffman of Homer Neb., and Jim (Roxanne) Hoffman of Westfield, Iowa; three daughters, Carla (Adam Hall) Johns of Norfolk, Neb., Irene Hoffman of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Sharon (Scott) Anliker of Mediapolis, Iowa; two brothers, Vern (Lori) Johns of Rapid City, S.D., and Mike (Pat) Archer of Sioux City; two sisters, Judy Mae (Gary) Blair of Allen, Neb., and Sandy (Bob) Dodds of Sioux City; two stepbrothers, Bob Archer and Phil Archer, both of Montana; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; special son, Larry (Teresa) Buck of Burlington; mother-in-law, Amelia Henrich of Akron. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Da Nel Blunck; two brothers, Guy Johns and George Daniel Archer; one sister, Geraldine Wilson; his grandmother; and father-in-law. ∼Arthur Franklin Johns, 74, of Burlington, died at 10:42 PM Monday, April 23, 2012, at his home in Burlington. Born September 8, 1937, in Sioux City, IA, he was the son of Linus Franklin and Ethel Marie Armstrong Johns. On September 8, 1981, he married Kathleen Marie Henrich in Burlington. Arthur worked as welder, as a ward attendee for Des Moines County Home, a janitor and activities bus driver for Burlington Notre Dame, contractor, meat processor, taxi driver and weatherization supervisor. He enjoyed going fishing, going to the casino and playing scratch off tickets, day trips to eat with family and friends, woodworking, camping and cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids and friends. Survivors include his wife, Kathy; four sons, Bradley (Lori) Johns of Sioux City, Donald (Joann) Hoffman of Akron, Richard (Janet) Hoffman of Homer NE, and Jim (Roxanne) Hoffman of Westfield; three daughters, Carla (Adam Hall) Johns of Norfolk, NE, Irene Hoffman of Sioux Falls, SD, and Sharon (Scott) Anliker of Mediapolis; two brothers, Vern (Lori) Johns of Rapid City, SD, and Mike (Pat) Archer of Sioux City, two sisters, Judy Mae (Gary) Blair of Allen, NE, and Sandy (Bob) Dodds of Sioux City, two step-brothers, Bob Archer of MT, and Phil Archer of MT; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; special son, Larry (Teresa) Buck and family of Burlington; mother-in-law, Amelia Henrich of Akron; and several nieces and nephews. As per Arthur's request cremation has been accorded. Inurnment will be at a later date in Akron, IA.
