Description	:	Arthur G. Sheldon, 92, of Clarence, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019, at his home in Clarence. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa. Arthur Gilbert Sheldon was born May 22, 1926, the son of George and Nettie (Henkes) Sheldon, the fourth of their nine children. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa. Arthur Gilbert Sheldon was born May 22, 1926, the son of George and Nettie (Henkes) Sheldon, the fourth of their nine children. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, in the Philippines and Japan. He married Rosalie Ann Sander on March 25, 1949, in Clarence and were the parents of eight children. He was employed along with his brother, Clarence "Dale", in the carpentry business for many years, until Dale took over the family business. He then worked for the Clarence River Valley Co-op, until he retired in 1991. Rosalie preceded him in death on January 14, 2009. He had an incredible work ethic and was especially passionate about fixing bicycles. He enjoyed riding his bicycle, even into his 90's, around Clarence. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed telling stories about his life. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family. Surviving are four daughters, Connie Sheldon of Mankato, MN, Janice Gsell of Eldridge, Barbara Sheldon of Redford, MI, and Jill (Craig) Hlas of Cedar Rapids; one son, Ronald Sheldon of Lompoc, CA; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Jacquelyn Sheldon of Clarence and Virginia Sheldon of Virginia; one sister, Shirley Blake; and one sister-in-law, Patricia Sheldon of Tipton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, Dennis Sheldon and Philip Sheldon, one daughter, Nancy Sheldon; two sisters, Helen Sheldon and Donna Clemmens; and five brothers, George, Clarence, John, Gilbert and Donald Sheldon.
