Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, at John’s United Church of Christ, Clarence. Rosalie Ann Sander was born November 8, 1931, in Lowden, the daughter of Henry Otto and Luanna (Freese) Sander. She married Arthur Gilbert Sheldon on March 25, 1949, in Clarence. She was employed as City Clerk of Clarence for 21 years. She also was a news correspondant for the Clarence Sun-News for many years. She had been a member of St. John's bell choir and taught Sunday school for many years. She had been treasurer of the Clarence American Legion for 19 years, she was an avid gardener, loved needle work and sewing and was an avid sports fan, especially the Hawkeyes. Through the years she had worked with many charities. She is survived by her husband, Gilbert; five daughters, Connie Sheldon of Mankato, MN, Janice Gsell of Eldridge, Barb Sheldon of Redford, MI, Nancy Sheldon of Los Angeles, CA, and Jill (Craig) Hlas of Cedar Rapids; one son, Ron Sheldon of Lompoc, CA; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Jacquelyn Sheldon of Clarence and Virginia Sheldon of Virginia; and one brother, Randall (Rosalie) Sander of Clarence. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Dennis and Philip Sheldon and one brother, Lowell Sander. Chapman Funeral Home
