Description	:	Arthur Henry Bevers Jr. passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at a care facility in Redding, California. Art was born the 5th child to Arthur Henry Bevers Sr. and Gladys Melvina Daily on May 27, 1926, in Watertown, South Dakota. Art was raised on farms in the Hazel and Watertown area. His mother, Gladys, passed away when he was only 8 years old and he had seven siblings. A year later his father married Elsie Ludtke, and he gained another brother and two more sisters. Read More	Arthur Henry Bevers Jr. passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at a care facility in Redding, California. Art was born the 5th child to Arthur Henry Bevers Sr. and Gladys Melvina Daily on May 27, 1926, in Watertown, South Dakota. Art was raised on farms in the Hazel and Watertown area. His mother, Gladys, passed away when he was only 8 years old and he had seven siblings. A year later his father married Elsie Ludtke, and he gained another brother and two more sisters. Elsie was lovingly called Grandma by 29 grandchildren. He quit school in about the 8th grade to help his father on the farm. Art served in the Army and although we have many pictures of him and his brothers in their uniforms, he never really talked about his service. Art married Ruby Eileen Horn on November 10, 1946. They had four children, Deanna (Jim) Anderson, Nola (Jim) Hill, Arvid (Judy) Bevers and Brian Bevers. Art’s first occupation was being a farmer like his father. And although he worked hard at this profession, South Dakota dry farming could be challenging and he moved off the farm with his family and owned a couple grocery stores in the small towns of Hazel and Hayti. The family lived for a brief time in Watertown and then moved to California, near his sister Barbara. He worked several jobs to support his family until he found a job at Northrop Grumman, to head the shipping and receiving department. He excelled at this job due to his hard work and dedication until he retired. Art and Ruby were divorced in 1965, and he later married Josephine Alarcon and later Patricia Lefforge who both passed away before him. At the At the time of his passing, Art had 4 children, 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gladys and Elsie, four brothers, Lee, James, Dale and Howard, and wives Josie and Patty. He is survived by one brother, Carl Bevers, and sisters Dorothy McGillvary, Millie Brinkman, Barbara Walklin, Joyce Gacke and Marlys Womble. Arthur will be laid to rest in the Northern California Veteran’s Cemetery in Igo, California. A family gathering will be held at the cemetery on June 22nd when he is interred. - Published in the Watertown Public Opinion June 8, 2018
