Description	:	Obituary courtesy of Corene Phillips: Arthur James Asher, son of Myley and Mary Reece Asher, was born in Henderson County, Illinois June 10th, 1877, and departed this life at the Good Samaritan Hospital at Kearney, Nebraska, on July 4th, 1952, having reached the age of 75 years and 24 days. In 1882 he come with his parents to Nebraska from Kansas where they homesteaded 2 1/2 north of the present day Pleasanton. Mr. Asher followed the carpenter trade for many years, but later operated a garage on the west side of Sycamore Street.... On June 9th he became quite sick and was taken to the hospital. He is survived by two brothers, Frank of Hazard and Chauncey of Kearney; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Zbinden, Mrs. Minnie Eaton, Mrs. Olive Phillips, all of Pleasanton, and Mrs. Mattie Morton, of Oakland, California; 23 nephews and nieces and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the E.U.B. church in Pleasanton at 2:30, July 6th, with Rev. Lewein officiating. Interment was in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were six nephews, Sydney Zimmer, Othe Asher, Earl Eaton, Robert Lewis, Billy Phillips, and Dewey Asher.
