Description	:	Mrs. Mary Reese Asher died Thursday April 14 at her home here in Pleasanton. She had been ill for the past two months. Mary Reese was born in New Church, Monmouthshire, England 76 years ago. She came to America with her brother James Reese at the age of 16. For several years she lived at Carman, Illinois. Read More	Mrs. Mary Reese Asher died Thursday April 14 at her home here in Pleasanton. She had been ill for the past two months. Mary Reese was born in New Church, Monmouthshire, England 76 years ago. She came to America with her brother James Reese at the age of 16. For several years she lived at Carman, Illinois. Here she met and married Myley Asher. In 1879 she and Mr. Asher in company with Mr. and Mrs. James Reese immigrated to Kansas via the covered wagon route. In 1883 the immigrated to Nebraska and took homesteads just north of what later turned out to be Pleasanton. Mere Mr. and Mrs. Asher lived and reared a family of 8 children. In 1906 Mr. Asher died. Two years later Mrs. Asher moved to town. Until the last year or two of her life Mrs. Asher was a very active woman and her flower garden was one of the finest in town. Another hobby of hers was making quilts. No pattern was too intricate no seam too fine, for her nimble fingers to fashion into a block. Mrs. Asher leaves four sons, Art, Frank, Dave and Chauncy; and four daughter, Mrs. Annie Zbinden, Mrs. Minnie Eaton, Mrs. Mattie Zimmer, and Mrs. Olive Phillips; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and neighbors of 49 years standing. She was buried from the U. B. Church Saturday afternoon. The Royal Neighbors Lodge of which she was a charter member attending in a body. Obituary courtesy of Corrine Phillips.
