Description	:	Arthur Johnston was six years old when his family moved to Cloud Co, KS in 1881. The son of a Scottish father and an English mother, he was the youngest of eight children who survived to adulthood. He married Estella Andrews on Dec 27, 1895 and they had twelve children. He moved to Kansas with his parents when he was a young lad, and settled near Huscher. one year later he moved southwest of Concordia and lived in that community until the fall of 1943. He then moved to Concordia, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was united in marriage to Estella Mae Andrews in 1896, and to this union twelve children were born. Two sons preceded him in death. He engaged in farming in his early manhood and was forced to retire five years ago, when he was stricken with the illness that later led to his death. He was a devoted husband and father and a friend to all who knew him. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, six daughters: Mrs. Clare Adkinson and Mrs. Martha Cunningham of Concordia; Mrs. Myrth Christie of Manhattan; Mrs. Eloise Odette, Jamestown; Mrs. Margaret Bistline, Carmi, Illinois; Mrs. Mildred Smith, Glasco; four sons, Earl and James of Concordia; Otto, Bell, Calif.; Edwin, Salem, Ore.; sixteen grandchildren, also a sister, Mrs. E. V. Elfstrom, Salem, Ore.; besides many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock, in the EUB church in Concordia, and interment was made in the West Branch cemetery. Note: obit provided by Cheryl White (#47328595)
