Visitation was also held there at the funeral home. Burial was in the Marble Valley Cemetery north of Gilmore City, IA. Schellhamer Funeral Home was in charge of the arragements. Read More	GOWRIE, formally of GILMORE CITY, IA: In Loving Memory of: Arthur "Art" Rosendahl: Final Rites for Arthur Rosendahl: Services for Arthur Ubbe "Art" Rosendahl of Gowrie, IA; formerly of Gilmore City and Rockwell City, IA; were held Monday, March 11, 1985, at the Schellhamer Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmore City, with Pastor Darryl Torrin of First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City, officiating. Visitation was also held there at the funeral home. Burial was in the Marble Valley Cemetery north of Gilmore City, IA. Schellhamer Funeral Home was in charge of the arragements. Military Graveside Rites were conducted by the Hartnett-Johnson American Legion Post 239 in Gilmore City; also where they had a light lunch following the committal services. He died Thursday, March 7, 1985, from complications of colon cancer at Shadey Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City, IA. Casketbearers were: Harold Landmesser, Maynard Wiemers, Edward Stoulil, Charles Harris, Gerd Johnson, Harold Christensen, and Knute Peterson. Arthur "Art" Ubbe Rosendahl, the son of Gerd and Ecke (Janssen) Rosendahl, was born on January 29, 1913, in Iroqouis County, near Chatsworth, ILL. At the age of two, he moved with his parents to a farm in Webster County, south of Clare, IA. Later they moved to a farm in Center Twp. of Calhoun County, north of Rockwell City, IA, where he attended rural schools. In 1931 he moved with the family to a farm in Humboldt County, north of Gilmore City, IA. On August 16, 1934, he was united in marriage with Edna Lee of Rockwell City, IA. The marraige was later dissolved. Also in that time he entered the U.S. Army and served overseas. He was awarded four Bronze Stars and a Capaign Medal. Following the war he settled in Muskegon, Mich. to be near daughter, Dorothy Jean and family. Here he'd marry June Schutte on Aug. 3, 1945. Later they moved to Florida where the couple divorced. While in Florida, Art made his home at Miami and later in the Bellvue, FL area. In Florida he had a special friend, Jessie. In the spring of 1981, he returned to Iowa, settling in Gowrie, IA, to be near his family, and daughter, Nancy Buda of Callender, IA. In the fall of 1984, he moved to Rolfe, IA, to a retirement complex and on Jan. 14, 1985 he was admitted to the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, IA. He later transferred to the Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City, IA. He was a member of the Christian Lutheran Churches in the areas in which he lived, and a former member of the First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City, IA; and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manson, IA. He was a life member of the VFW in Bellvue, FL., and later transferred to the VFW Post 80883 in Dakota City, IA in 1984. He served as an Honor Guard for departed veterans. Art is Lovingly Remebered by his Mother: Ecke Rosendahl of the North Care Center in Humboldt, IA; three daughters: Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy Jean) McGruther of Muskegon, MI; Verna Mae DeTemmerman of Oelwein, IA; and Nancy Buda of Callender, IA; two sons: Donald of Alaska; and Richard of California. Three sisters: Mrs. Lloyd (Helen) Harris of Dakota City, IA; Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Abel of Pensacola, FL; and Mrs. Clifford (Arlene) Chantland of Humboldt, IA; three brothers: Vernon Rosendahl of Wenatchee, Wash., Carl Rosendahl of Carlton, OR; and Glen Rosendahl of Humboldt, IA. He joins in Heaven his father, Gerd Rosendahl in Dec. of 1959; his grandparents; and his first wife in 1977. He had been Baptized into the Christian Faith at the German Lutheran Church in Illinois; and was Confirmed into the Christian Faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Manson, IA, by Rev. Meier. Special Music: "In The Garden" "The Old Rugged Cross" Organist: Mrs. Marian Benjamin Mrs. Mary Torkelson- Soloist Clergyman: Pastor Torrin of First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City, IA. Following the Interment Services: The Rosendahl Family greeted family and friends back to lunch at the American Legion in Gilmore City, IA. Precious to the Lord is the death of his Saints.
