Description	:	Washington County's first traffic fatality of the year was recorded Tuesday evening when a Campbellsburg cattle-buyer died as his truck left State Road 135 about nine miles south of Salem. Arvil Perdiew, 61, of Campbellsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Coroner Dr. E. R. Apple. The exact cause of death was not disclosed, pending a post-mortem examination. Knowledge of Perdiew's business habits, plus the finding of a substantial sum of money in his billfold, led to speculation that he had been returning from a packing company at Central Barren. -------- Arvil Perdiew, age 61, of Campbellsburg, died January 3, from injuries received when his truck turned over on Highway 135, about 9 miles south of Salem. He was born May 14, 1905, the son of the late James and Lottie Brown Perdiew. He was a member of the Campbellsburg Baptist Church and the Woodmens Lodge. He was a livestock dealer, and formerly operated a restaurant and billiard room in Campbellsburg. In 1942, he married Mahala Bilyeu, who survives. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Peggy Nale, Yorktown, Indiana and Mrs. Linda Calfee, Alexandria, Virginia; one brother, Lawrence Perdiew, Campbellsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Ollie Jean, Mrs. Flavia Collier, both of Campbellsburg, and Mrs. Blanche Chamberlain, Roachdale, Indiana; and five grandchildren. (One brother and two sisters preceded him in death) Funeral services were held Friday, January 6 at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Campbellsburg, with burial in the Hop Cemetery. The body is at the NewKirk Memorial Chapel in Campbellsburg.
