He was the son of the late August C. and Matilda Almeling, was born in Wentzville January 27, 1895. Read More	The Wentzville Union Newspaper – March 4, 1949 August Edward Almeling passed away Sunday, February 27 at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis at the age of fifty-four years and one month. He was the son of the late August C. and Matilda Almeling, was born in Wentzville January 27, 1895. The family moved to New Melle where he was confirmed to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Melle, April 12, 1908 by Rev. Falke. He served in World War I from September 20, 1917 until June 4, 1919. On June 2, 1920 he was united in marriage to Laura Schroeder, by Rev. Falke. Five children were born to this union; two sons and three daughters. The family moved to Wentzville in August 1925 and he became a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. In January 1927, he became Rural Mail Carrier at Wentzville and completed 22 years of service. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, two sons, Maynard and Vernon; three daughters, Bernice, Dorothy and Lucille; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emil Holt and four brothers, Julius, Alvin, Clarence and Hobert. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. Miessler at the Lutheran Church with burial in Linn Cemetery.
