Funeral services were held at 3:30 today for August Lagg, 80-year-old Homestake Veteran who died at the Homestake Hospital in Lead Friday night. The Reverend M. Wikman, First Lutheran Church, conducted the services at the McColley mortuary chapel. A female quartet, consisting of Mrs. Martti Wilkman, Mrs. George Kotti, Mrs. Albert Mitchell and Helen Silvesti, sang three songs during the funeral. Mrs. Raymond Tetreault accompanied them. The songs were 'The Old Rugged Cross,' 'No Night There" and in Finnish, 'Near The Cross.' Pallbearers for the funeral included Palmer Peterson, Deadwood, with whom Lagg made his home the past 17 years; Swan Swanson, Bert Borg, John Broome, Raymond Tetreault and Oscar Wara, all of Lead. Among the friends and relatives who attended the funeral were Lagg's five daughters, Mrs. Helma Brannamen, Newell; Mrs. Sophie Fields, Detroit; Mrs. Mamie King, Denver; Lila, Coos Bay, Ore., and Florence, Omaha, Neb., as well as several nieces and nephews and a brother Archie of Armour. His sister in Finland and his sons Oscar and William of Los Angeles and John of Sioux Falls were unable to attend. He was buried in South Lead cemetery." SOUTH DAKOTA STATE FILE #260581
