All of Republic County. ======================== The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, March 25, 1948; pg. 1 DROPS DEAD TUESDAY Obituary - AUGUST AUPPERLE August Aupperle, 85, of Chester, died suddenly at his home Tuesday evening. Mr. Aupperle was making some repairs on his porch when death occurred. He is survived by his wife and one daughter. Funeral services have been tentatively scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at the Methodist church (sic) in Chester. Burial will be in Chester cemetery (sic). ================= The Hebron Journal-Register (Hebron, NE), Wednesday, April 7, 1948; pg. 1 August Aupperle was born in Indiana, September 15, 1865, and passed away at his home, March 23, 1948, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 8 days. He was one of a large family. Later he resided in Illinois and when a young man he moved near Wymore, Nebraska, where he was engaged in farming. In 1894 he moved Republic County, Kansas and continued farming. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Herald in 1896 and to this union one daughter Mae, (Mrs. George Duey) was born. Mr. Aupperle purchased a farm east of Chester where they resided till 1929 when they retired from farm work and moved to Chester which has been his home until his sudden death due to a heart attack. He was a most devoted husband and father and his many neighbors and friends admired his patience and cheerfulness. In spite of his affliction he never complained and always made the best of whatever befell him. When a young man he joined the Baptist Church, later he united with the Methodist Church in Chester, while Rev. Stitt was pastor and was the first to receive baptism in the new church. He was a faithful member as long as he was able to attend church and lived a true Christian in all walks of life. He will be sadly missed by his oved (sic) ones and many friends, but his Christian influence will live on. He leaves to mourn his passing his faithful wife and living daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. George Duey of Falls City, Nebr. Two grand daughters and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Oral Davis of Fairfax, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Elton Steadman and three great grand sons, Charles, Gene and David Steadman of Shubert, Nebr. Many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Friday afternoon with the pastor, the Rev. W.C. Fawell officiating. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery.
