Description	:	WITTMACK, AUGUST HEINRICH — August Heinrich Wittmack, son of Heinrich Whittmack and his wife, nee Amalie Harms, was born at Van Horne, Benton county, Ia., July 13, 1879. In early infancy he received the sacrament of holy baptism, and through it became a member of the holy Christian church. When he was nine years of age his parents moved to Chase county, Nebraska. Read More	WITTMACK, AUGUST HEINRICH — August Heinrich Wittmack, son of Heinrich Whittmack and his wife, nee Amalie Harms, was born at Van Horne, Benton county, Ia., July 13, 1879. In early infancy he received the sacrament of holy baptism, and through it became a member of the holy Christian church. When he was nine years of age his parents moved to Chase county, Nebraska. Here he received his Christian schooling and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith March 18, 1894, by Rev. W. Mahler. Here the deceased also knew all the hardships of pioneer life. In 1896 the family moved to Fillmore county, where Mr. Wittmack resided for three years, after which he lived in Keith county, Nebraska, for twelve years, returning to Geneva in the spring of 1912. September 22, 1912, Mr. Wittmack was united in holy wedlock to Miss Augusta Muchow. In the fall of 1919, Mr. and Mrs. Wittmack moved to York. Since that time they made their home there. The past twelve years Mr. Wittmack had been employed by York county in bridge construction work. Last fall Mr. Wittmack was stricken with a serious sickness that proved incurable. But submitting to the Lord's will, he bore his sickness patiently until the Lord relieved him of all suffering Monday afternoon, March 16, 1938, when he died peacefully at the age of 56 years, 8 months, and 3 days. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Mrs. Augusta Wittmack; one daughter, Bernice, at home; two brothers, John of Geneva, and Albert of Shickley; one sister, Mrs. Amanda Davis of Geneva; one half-sister, Mrs. Emma Falk of Goltry, Okla.; and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church at York Thursday, March 19. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. Source: The Nebraska Signal, 1936.
