Augusta Helene Muchow was born August 18, 1879, at Hastings, Neb. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Read More	WITTMACK, AUGUSTA HELENE — Mrs. Augusta Wittmack of York departed this life Wednesday, December 5, 1945 at 3:30 a. m. at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 17 days. Augusta Helene Muchow was born August 18, 1879, at Hastings, Neb. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In the spring of 1880, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Muchow, she went to Furnas county, where they homesteaded. Due to the grasshopper plague, they moved to blue Hill, Neb., where she spent her girlhood days. In 1908 she opened a millinery shop at Shickley, Neb. She operated it until 1912. September, 22, 1912, she was married to August Wittmack. They resided in Geneva until the fall of 191, when they moved to York, where they had since made their home. Mrs. Wittmack was an esteemed member of Emmanuel Lutheran church. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid, and was also a member of the Happy Hour Club and the Christmas club, and took great delight in associating with her friends and neighbors. Though in failing health for years and seriously ill the past months, she suffered patiently. She at all times manifested a great love for her church and the Kingdom of God. Mrs. Wittmack was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1936. She is survived by a daughter, Berniece, her son-in-law, Rupert Naber, and two grandchildren of Waco, nine brothers, six sisters, two of these being Mrs. T. W. Boyes of Fairmont and Mrs. John Tobiassen of Geneva, and a host of other relatives and friends. Hers was the first death in a family of sixteen children. Only four brothers and three sisters were able to be present for the funeral. The funeral was held Sunday, December 9, at 1:30 at the home and at 2o'clock at Emmanuel Lutheran church. Words of firm hope were spoken by Rev. H. Hopman, pastor, in I Timothy 4:18. Misses Dorcas Kline, Jean Schluter, Eunice Hopken and France Mueller sang "Be Still My Soul" and "I'm But a Stranger here." The deceased selected her own pallbearers. They were Ernest Gerken, John Stuhr, Julius Rathje, Ben Rathje, Ed Helmers and Carl Goesch. Many beautiful floral offerings were received, including an unusually fine memorial wreath.
