Description	:	August J. Graue, son of August D. Graue, Sr. and Sophia Finke, was born at Eagle, Neb., on May 18, 1890. He was baptized there at Immanual Lutheran Church. He received a Christian education in the congregation elementary school. In the spring of 1908 he moved with his parents to the Chester community. He was united in marriage to Margaret Kaiser on June 3, 1915. He spent his life in this community as a farmer and was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was baptized there at Immanual Lutheran Church. He received a Christian education in the congregation elementary school. In the spring of 1908 he moved with his parents to the Chester community. He was united in marriage to Margaret Kaiser on June 3, 1915. He spent his life in this community as a farmer and was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church. In the spring of 1953 he retired and moved to Chester. Following an extended illness, Mr. Graue passed away Saturday evening, August 11, 1962, at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Kans. He had attained the age of 72 years 2 months and 24 days. Surviving him are his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Delores (Mrs. Ben Horak); three granddaughers: Marlene (Mrs. Don Erhard), Janet and Kathleen; and five sisters: Mrs. Anna Jochens of Santee, Calif., Mrs. Lizzie Kapperman, Rosina and Laura Graue of Chester, and Mrs. Wm. Brettmann of Deshler, and a host of relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Henry, and a sister, Mary, who died in infancy. The funeral service was held Tuesday August 14, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, the Rev. Donald Patterson officiating. Soloist was Merton Grabau, accompanied by Walter Firnhaber at the organ. Casket bearers were: Harlan Graue, Wm. Othling, rudy Sunderman, Henry Kapperman, Fred Kapperman, Oswald Schmidt. Interment was in St. John Lutheran cemetery (sic), Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
