Funeral services for August Miller, old-time resident of David City, who passed away in St. Catherine's hospital, Omaha, early Wednesday morning, March 9, from embolism after illness of three days, were held in St. Mary's Catholic church, David City, at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning, Rev. W. A. Murphy officiating at requiem high mas. The pallbearers were Henry Buller, Frank Eiting, Lawrence Kearney, John Lanspa, Peter Reisdorff and Peter Vanderheiden. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, by side of the grave of Mrs. Miller, who passed away December 16, 1926. In attendance at the funeral from elsewhere, besides the Miller children and their families, were Henry Glantz, Mrs. Conrad Glantz, Mrs. Michael Glantz and Mrs. Herman Miller of Harvard, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Plymate, Mr. and Mrs. James Lutea and Paul O'Meara of Omaha, Mrs. Max Elias and Henry Buller of Columbus and a large number of relatives and friends from Ulysses, Bellwood and other surrounding locations. August Miller, son of Henry and Anna Miller, was born at Zell, Mo., September 26, 1860, and at time of his death was in his 78th year. He came to Nebraska in 1879 and was engaged in the mercantile business most of his life, at Hampton, York, Staplehurst and David City. He resided in David City from 1892 until the death of Mrs. Miller, after which he spent his remaining years of life in the homes of his children. He had made his home in Omaha the past nine years. Mr. Miller was united in marriage to Nora Considine at Ulysses on May 2, 1892. To this union were born four children, one son and three daughters, all of whom survive. They are Anthony Miller of Omaha, Irene, Mrs. John Glantz, of Omaha, Mary, Mrs. R. W. Litjen, of Seward, and Frances, Mrs. P. W. Lakers, of Columbus. Mr. Miller also leaves ten grandchildren, William A. Litjen, Paul, Elinor, Donald, Robert and Thomas Lakers, Patrick, Margaret, Ann and Mary Katherine Miller, and Marianna Glantz; three brothers, Anton Miller of Fenton, Mo., Valentine Miller of Bloomsdale, Mo., and Leo Miller, of Boynton, Okla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Fabian Kirchner and Mrs. Joseph Kirchner of Bloomsdale, Mo., and Sister M. Romana of O'Fallon, Mo. Honest and upright in all his dealings, of pleasing and friendly personality and always eager to help with anything for the welfare of David City, a kind husband and father, Mr. Miller was highly respected and liked by his many friends and relatives. ____ Card of Thanks - Our heatfelt thanks are extended to our many friends for their kind expressions of sympathy in time of our great loss.
