Description	:	Mrs. H. A. Stoltenberg, a resident of his vicinity for more than 48 years, passed away at her home at 5:45 Wednesday evening following a lingering illness. Mrs. Stoltenberg suffered from arthritis and complications and had been bedfast since the first of the year. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed. Auguste Schneckloth was born in Scott county, Iowa Sept. 29, 1862, so was almost 74 years old at the time of her death. She moved to Tama county with her parents when a young girl where on Feb. 18, 1888 she was united in marriage with Hans A. Stoltenberg, who at the time was living in Sioux County. Immediate after her marriage she came to Sioux County, making her home on this farm until 1920 when Mr. and Mrs. Stoltenberg retired from active life and moved to occupy a beautiful home they had built. Mr. Stoltenberg passed away suddenly July 21, 1929. She was the mother of seven children, all of whom survive her except one, Miss Amanda Stoltenberg, who passed away December 30, 1933. The children left to mourn her departure are Albert, Henry and George Stoltenberg and Mrs. Edna Wilkens of Hawarden; Miss Harriet Stoltenberg of New York City, and Miss Julia Stoltenberg of Spokane, Wa. She also leaves ten grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. John Lohse and Mrs. I.L. Bigelow of Gladbrook, Ia, and Mrs. Bertha Bailey and Mrs. Freda Trotter of Cincinnati, Ohio, and one brother, Peter Schneckloth of San Frandcisco, Calif. Mrs. Stoltenberg was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hawarden and when her health permitted she was a faithful attendant and loyal supporter of the church. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid of this church. She possessed a quiet and unassuming disposition but was kind and thoughtful of others. During her early age her efforts were spent looking after the needs of her family, whose welfare was always uppermost sought. During her long illness she showed great Christian fortitude and even though at times her suffering was intense she bore her lot without complaint. Death came as a sweet release to her tired body after being bedridden for almost nine months. Hawarden Independent 9/17/1936
