Sept. 17, 1966) Augustus Van Meter, 79, of 403 W. High Street, Minerva, died today at 12:30 a.m. at his residence following a two-week illness. The son of the late James and Laura Leyda Van Meter, he was born in Malvern June 10, 1887, residing there until two years ago at which time he moved to Minerva. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Wadsworth, of the home; six daughters, Mrs. Alice Irwin, Mrs. Grace Sautters and Mrs. Laura Clapper, all of Canton; Mrs. Arlene Tarbet of Minerva, Mrs. Olive Boldizsar of New Baltimore and Mrs. Nora Barrick of Malvern; one son, Paul A., of Minerva; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Rohrer of Canton and Mrs. Hannah Lechner of Zoar, two brothers, Austin of Malvern and Isaac of Canton; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Van Meter celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in February. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Merline Vining of the Minerva Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Malvern. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
