Read More	Aurelia Capin Savage was born in Spencer, Massachusetts, August 31, 1820, and died in Fairmont, Nebraska, October 2, 1906, aged eighty-six years, one month and one day. She was married to Tyler Marsh October 3, 1839. On his death, in 1849, she was left to face the world alone with three small children to provide for. Three years later, she was married to Lawson Savage, a widower with four sons. One of his sons, Tyler Savage was afterward married to her daughter, Miss Adeline Marsh, thus uniting the families still more closely. To Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Savage was born one child, Fanny Savage, who afterward became the wife of George Jackson of Fairmont. In 1852 Mr. and Mrs. Savage came west, settling in Winnebago, Illinois, where they lived for many years. After the death of her husband, she came to Nebraska with her daughter, Mrs. Jackson. Of her five children, only one is living, Wallace Marsh of Glenn Falls, New York. Mrs. Tyler Savage, the daughter with whom she made her home for many years passed away just three weeks before her mother's death. "Grandma" Savage, as she was affectionately called, was beloved by all who knew her. Before she became disabled by infirmities, she was always to be relied upon for help in sickness and trouble. No sacrifice was too great, if she could only be of service. Her patient endurance of suffering and her sweet unselfish, loving nature made her life an example to all. She loved to recall the scenes of her early life. Many of the friends with whom she played and studied in the old district school house in Spencer, Mass., have become widely known. Prominent among them was her cousin, Elias Howe, the inventor of the first sewing machine in America. She became a Christian early in life, and united with the Congregational church. Her Christian character has impressed itself upon all who knew her; her well-worn Bible attests the source of her strength. When the heavenly call came, she was willing, even eager to go. Almost her last words were, "Dear Jesus, take my spirit." Funeral services were held from the home Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. V.L. Schermerhorn of the Congregational church officiating.
