Description	:	Austin Eugene White was born October 22, 1915 in Winfield, Iowa. He grew up in the Martinsburg and Hedrick area. Gene was the son of Harley L. White and Della Shafer White. He married Lena LaVon Lee in Woodburn, Iowa on July 3, 1936. She died in 1969. He later married Katherine Williams on April 6, 1969. Gene was Police Chief in Dayton, Iowa at the time of his death. Read More	Austin Eugene White was born October 22, 1915 in Winfield, Iowa. He grew up in the Martinsburg and Hedrick area. Gene was the son of Harley L. White and Della Shafer White. He married Lena LaVon Lee in Woodburn, Iowa on July 3, 1936. She died in 1969. He later married Katherine Williams on April 6, 1969. Gene was Police Chief in Dayton, Iowa at the time of his death. He had been Chief Security Officer at Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa prior to his service in Dayton. Gene died of an apparent heart attack on Thursday, April 12, 1973. He was found dead in his police car about 2 hours after he left home to answer a police call. Gene and Lena were the parents of one son, Scott William White. Gene had one brother, Roscoe White (#93002248) and two sisters, Florence White Nimmo, and Patricia White Ohrt. He had two grandchildren, Bruce and Lonnie White, and, one nephew, Mike White of Washington, and one niece, Mary White Maxwell of Fairfield. He was also survived by one stepson and one stepdaughter. He was preceeded in death by his parents Harley L. and Della Shafer White, his wife Lena, and one daughter, Nancy Lee White.
