Read More	DROPS DEAD OF HEART ATTACK Villisca Business Man Dies After Many Years’ Residence Here Funeral Held Sunday Afternoon Austin L. Ashmore, proprietor of the pool hall on lower Third Avenue, dropped dead of a heart attack at 8:40 o’clock Thursday evening of last week while seated at a table playing cards with friends at the Carl Taylor Cigar Store. He had suffered since a boy with heart trouble brought on by scarlet fever. While he was sitting at the table, Mr. Ashmore’s head dropped forward, but he was quickly caught by Mr. Taylor, proprietor of the cigar store, and was held by other friends while Mr. Taylor brought water and bathed his face. They were unable to revive him and it is believed he died instantly. A physician was called and Mr. Ashmore’s brother Start was notified. The body was removed to the Fessler & Sutphen Funeral Home. Austin LeRoy Ashmore was born at Rainsboro, Ohio, on February 11, 1884 and laced by 9 days of being 44 years old at the time of his death. He came to Villisca with other members f his family when he was 8 years old and he has resided here continuously since then, except at such times as his work took him elsewhere. For several years he was a hotel chef at which work he spent several years in Creston, and the same work took him to several other cities. He was engaged in the restaurant business in Villisca five years, but ill health made it necessary for him to give up on that work five years ago. During the last year he operated to pool hall which he owned here. Mr. Ashmore’s mother died when he was a small boy. He is survived by his father, Asa Lee Ashmore, of Highland, Indiana and by two brothers and one sister. The brothers and sisters are S. C. Ashmore, Villisca, V. O. Ashmore of Grant, and Mrs. Walter Graham of Highland, Indiana. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. His funeral was held Sunday at 2 o’clock at the Fessler & Sutphen Funeral Home, with Rev. Geo. A. Lawton in charge of the service. The sining was by J. H. Todd, R. J. Swanson, H. H. Nordyke, and J. B. Means, and the pall bearers were H. G. Porter, Virgil Parcher, Carl Taylor, Elias Lewis, Wm. First, and Maurice McGee. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Mrs. Leonard Jackson of Highland, Indiana, niece of Mr. Ashmore, and Mr. and Mrs. Ora Underwood, the former a nephew of Mr. Ashmore of Bedford, Iowa, were here to attend the funeral.
