Avis Katherine Berck, youngest daughter of John and Lydia Kruse Berck, was born February 12, 1912, at Osceola, Nebr., and died at her home in Marquette February 23, 1930, following an illness of four weeks and three days of pluro-pneumonia, with complications. She having attained the age of 18 years and 11 days. The first six years of her life were spent near Osceola, at the end of which time the family moved to a farm near Murphy, where they resided another six years. Six years ago the family removed to Marquette. Avis was a member of the Senior class in Marquette High school, where she was ever popular and loved by all. She was also a member of the Girls' Glee Club, taking prominent parts at all times. She was a member of the Methodist Church, always active in Sunday school and Epworth League, and willing to help whenever and wherever needed. Beside the father and mother four sister and five brother survive. They are: Lillian Newcomer, Ethel Brandt, Mamie Erickson, Myrtle Anderson, and Vern, Woodrow, Archie, Linley and Marvel Berck who reside at home. Funeral services were held at the M E church on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev Theo Lauer in charge. The Senior boys acted as pallbearers and the Senior girls as flower bearers. The High School Glee Club rendered a selection. Other special music was rendered by Mrs V G Johnson and Mrs T A Ortegren, Mr W S Seiver and Mr T W Seier with Mrs Wesley Benson accomopanist. Interment was made in the Aurora cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is extended Mr and Mrs Berck and family in this hour of their bereavement. Central City Republican-Nonpareil, February 27, 1930 Republican-Register, Aurora, February 28, 1930 also printed an obituary which stated "Interment was in Richland cemetery."
