Description	:	Early Pioneer Laid At Rest Axel William Holsten was born March 24, 1862, at Mykil Socken, Oster Jutlands, Sweden, and passed away at his home near Norman on August 2, 1944, at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 9 days. At the age of 17 years he came to America, to Omaha, Nebr., where he worked on a farm until July, 1883. He then located in Kearney County, near Norman, Nebraska. Read More	Early Pioneer Laid At Rest Axel William Holsten was born March 24, 1862, at Mykil Socken, Oster Jutlands, Sweden, and passed away at his home near Norman on August 2, 1944, at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 9 days. At the age of 17 years he came to America, to Omaha, Nebr., where he worked on a farm until July, 1883. He then located in Kearney County, near Norman, Nebraska. On December 15, 1893, he was united in marriage to Matilda Olson of Norman, Nebr. To this union were born 5 children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church near his home in Sweden. He has been a faithful member of the Lutheran church of Norman since the church was organized. He leaves to mourn his passing 2 sons, Swan of Marble Falls, Ark., and Arthur of Norman; 3 daughters, Anna of Norman; Mrs. Clara King of Minden and Mrs. Goldie Mauck of Reisters Town, Md.; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; one brother, Knut Holsten; 2 sisters, Mrs. Helma Hansen and Mrs. Jennie Hoffman, all of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. After the death of his wife in 1904 he moved to his farm one-half mile east and three-fourth of a mile north of Norman where he resided until his departure. Left alone with his small children, he struggled on in great adversity, never losing faith in God, praying for strength to see him through that he and his children could be together. Always willing to extend a helping hand. He was a kind and loving father whose one thought was to live so that one day he might meet his Saviour, whom he so dearly loved.
