Scott, Creighton resident for nearly half a century, died last Thursday afternoon at the home of his son, Royal, in Springfield, S.D. Death was attributed to heart and kidney trouble, combined with advanced age. He was past 77. W.C. Hengstler & Son, Creighton undertakers, went to Springfield for the body the same afternoon, crossing the river by ferry both ways. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church here at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the pastor, the Rev. Minar Gerrard, officiating. Pallbearers were Norman Burns, J.R. Zimmer, John Hamm, A.E. Reed, Charles King and P.D. Crew. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery. Azor O. Scott was born in Ohio, September 15, 1859. He passed from this life on Thursday, April 15, 1937. His age at death was 77 years and seven months. He came to Nebraska as a young man and settled near Creighton. He lived in the Creighton vicinity for about 49 years. Mr. Scott was an early day barber in Creighton and later worked at the carpentry trade. He gained scores of friends and acquaintances in his long residence here. On October 26, 1890 he was united in marriage to Lueamy McWilliams at Bazile Mills. To this union four children were born. His wife died in 1933 and from that time until his death Mr. Scott made his home with his children. He was a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. G.E. Sharp of Albion; three sons, Osborn of Randolph, Walter of St. Paul, Minn. and Royal of Springfield, S.D.; one sister, two brothers and twelve grandchildren.
