Description	:	Barbara Beniece Norris, 80, the daughter of Clarence and Melissa (Murphy) Gates, was born Jan. 6, 1921, at Burr Oak. She died Monday at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital, Superior. She attended Burr Oak schools and graduated in 1939. After graduation, she moved to Superior and married Ray Norris on Feb. 23, 1943. With her mother-in-law, Vida Norris, she opened the Victory cafe in Superior at the beginning of World War II. Read More	Barbara Beniece Norris, 80, the daughter of Clarence and Melissa (Murphy) Gates, was born Jan. 6, 1921, at Burr Oak. She died Monday at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital, Superior. She attended Burr Oak schools and graduated in 1939. After graduation, she moved to Superior and married Ray Norris on Feb. 23, 1943. With her mother-in-law, Vida Norris, she opened the Victory cafe in Superior at the beginning of World War II. She later opened a women's clothing store for several years. In the early 1960s she opened Treasure House Antiques. Barb and Ray continued in the antique business and did a number of shows and sales each year until health caused them to retire two years ago. An avid Husker fan, for many years, she and Ray seldom missed a home or away game. In her spare time, she liked fishing and reading. She was a 52-year member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Johnny and Leotis Gates. Survivors include her husband, Raymond E. Norris, Superior; a son, Raymond L. Norris, Ogallala; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be today (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Superior. The Rev. Dorthea Fairbanks will officiate. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Superior Express, Thursday, November 8, 2001.
