Description	:	Barbara was the daughter of Nicholas Hemfling and Magdalena Brunner. She married Bernard Brown on January 1868 in Browns, Iowa. They were the parents of Bernard G., Helena, Josephine, Lorenze J., William B., Nicholas E., Mary K, Frank J. John P., Catherine, and Henry. Read More	Barbara was the daughter of Nicholas Hemfling and Magdalena Brunner. She married Bernard Brown on January 1868 in Browns, Iowa. They were the parents of Bernard G., Helena, Josephine, Lorenze J., William B., Nicholas E., Mary K, Frank J. John P., Catherine, and Henry. June 26, 1924 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Bernard Brown, an old resient of this city, died at Browns, Ia., Saturday, June 21, where she was visiting relatives and friends. She was in splendid health and was enoying her visit until a few days before her death when she became slightly indisposted. Acute otitis mediotis developed from which she died. Mrs. Brown, who was Barbara Hemfling before her marriage, was born in St. Mary's Penn., November 4, 1846. She move with her parents to Clinton county, Iowa, in 1859, where in January, 1868, she was married to Bernard Brown at Browns, Ia., a town named after the Brown family. Mr. and Mrs. Brown made their home there until 1877 when they moved to Kniest townhip, Carroll county, Iowa. After retiring from the farm they made their home in this city until the death of Mr. Brown in August, 1918. Since that time Mrs. Brown made her home in Sioux City the greater share of the time. Mrs. Brown was a devout member of the Catholic church and died well fortified with the last rites of church. She was a delightful, refreshing woman to meet and had many friends in the city and comnunity. The following children survive B.G. Brown, Mrs. J.M. Wiedehold, Mrs. Joseph Fromme, L.J. Brown, W.B. Brown, N. E. Brown, F. J. Brown, J. P. Brown. She is also survived by one brother, John Hemfling of New Germany, Minn. One daughter, Mary K. Brown, died in July, 1917. Her remains were brought to Carroll Monday morning and taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.M. Wiederhold. All the children were present to attend the funeral service which was held at the S.S. Peter and Paul church this morning at 9 o'clock. The funeral was also attended by two nieces, Mrs. William Koch of Browns, Ia., and Miss Ella Hemfling of New Germany, Minn.
