She married Joseph Wiederhold on Aug. 9, 1898 in Carroll, Iowa. They were the parents of Leo, Leona, and John. Dec 23, 1936 - Carroll Daily Herald - Mrs. J.M. Wiederhold, a well known resident of Carroll for many years, died at 11 o'clock Tuesday night at her home, 115 North Carroll street. Her death was caused by pneumonia and complications with which she had been ill less than a week. Mrs. Wiederhold's sickness began with a cold, but she was able to be up and around the house until last Wednesday afternoon. Saturday morning she became critically ill. Her husband, son and daughter were with her continually during her illness and her brothers, Bernard and John P. Brown of Wagner, S.D., and a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Brown of Winner, S.D., were also at her bedside when she passed away. The body will be at the family home until the time of the funeral services. Solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated at the rites which are to be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at Ss. Peter and Paul's church. Burial, under the direction of the Kircher Dietrich funeral home, will be in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Wiederhold was born Lena Brown in Clinton county, Ia., Sept. 4, 1870, a daughter of Bernard and Barbara Brown, who later became leading pioneers of Carroll county. Her father was known in the community as "Barney" Brown. When she was six years old the family came to Mt. Carmel to reside and she was 12 when they moved to Carroll. She attended the parochial schools at Mt. Carmel and Carroll. She remained at the parental home until her marriage to J.M. Wiederhold, which took place at Ss. Peter and Paul's church here on Aug. 10, 1897. With the exception of two years 1908 to 1910, when they homesteaded at Witten, Tripp county, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Wiederhold have lived in Carroll ever since their marriage. Mrs Wiederhold was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul's church and the Married Ladies Sodality of the parish. Her home and church were always first in her thoughts and deeds, but she was also interested in outside activities. She was a member of Court St. Rose of Lima No. 6, Catholic Daughters of America and the Carroll unit of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mr. and Mrs. Wiederhold had three children, the oldest of whom, a son, John died in infancy. Surviving with Mr. Wiederhold are a twin son and daughter, Leo Wiederhold of Omaha and Mrs. F.J. Bielmaier (Leona) of Carroll. She also leaves two grandsons, James and Earl Bielmaier, one sister, Mrs. Josephine Fromme of Olean, N.Y., and six brothers: Bernard Brown, Wagner, S.D.; L.J. Brown, Sioux City; W.B. Brown, Parkston, S.D.; N.E. Winner, S.D.; F.J. Omaha, Neb.; and John V Wagner, S.D. Mrs. Fromme and daughter Marie, of Olean, N.Y., are expected to arrive Thursday and all of Mrs. Wiederhold's brothers will be here for the services.
