Barbara Jane Foust was born September 15, 1930 in Paulding County, Ohio. As a child, she lived in Defiance and enjoyed swimming at Kingsbury pool, participated in band and chorus, and worked in the school office. She was a 1948 graduate of Defiance High School. Barbara Jane Foust was born September 15, 1930 in Paulding County, Ohio. As a child, she lived in Defiance and enjoyed swimming at Kingsbury pool, participated in band and chorus, and worked in the school office. She was a 1948 graduate of Defiance High School. On June 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Wilmer W. Rohrs and moved to Hicksville. They raised their family, enjoyed gardening, camping and travel. Their grandchildren were their greatest joy. Wilmer preceded her in death in 2008. Barbara was a woman with a lifelong interest in learning and reading, especially mysteries. She was inquisitive and had the ability to tackle various projects and see them through to completion. She was involved in many clubs and committees including PTO, 4-H leader, Ladies Aid and a worker in the back of the Bargain Box. She was a woman of faith and a longtime member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville. She enjoyed gardening, camping, canning, baking, crossword puzzles, crafting, antiques and collecting. She did not enjoy house cleaning or card playing. In mid life she became a passionate genealogist. She loved the mystery and the intricate research. You never entered Barbara’s home without an invitation to sit and visit nor did you go away hungry. She was a loving, loyal, steadfast and generous wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Barbara is survived by her children, Lora Edwards, Brenda (Jim) Turnbull, William W. “Bill” Rohrs, all from Hicksville; grandchildren, Scott (Ashlee) Edwards, Jim (Tammy) Turnbull, Jay Turnbull, Tiffany Rohrs, Sarena (James) Hall, William R. Rohrs; great grandchildren, Leah Edwards (Reggie), Reece, Max and Stella Edwards, Michaela (Jonathon) David, Nathan, Landon and Garrett Turnbull, Vincent and Dominic Guerrero, Micah Elliott; step great grandchildren, Jillian and Rainee; great great grandchildren, Rory Lytle and Baby David (arriving in July). Also surviving Barbara are cherished friends Aunt Mary Lou Dailey and lifelong friend, Beverly Beverly. In addition to her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her eldest grandchild, Alan Edwards and her son-in-law Randy Edwards. Funeral services for Barbara will be Saturday, January 12, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Hicksville, with Pastor Vickie Combs officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Farmer. Memorials may be made to St. John Kitchen Project or Crippled Children and Adults Society of Hicksville.
