Visitation for family & friends will be 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Monday, September 2, 2019, at Birmingham United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at Birmingham United Methodist Church with Reverend Mary Hart and Rev. Larry Smith officiating. She married Van Edward Filson February 2, 1967 at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield. Barb was a homemaker and for three years she worked outside the home as a cosmetologist. She was a member of the Rebecca Circle of United Methodist Church in Birmingham and Fairfield Heritage Club. She will be missed by her husband of 52 years, Van Filson of Birmingham; one sister, Pauline Reeder of Fairfield; and nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lottie Steele; three sisters, Helen Teeter, Maxine Gittler and Ila Mae Bittle; two nephews, Don Pottorff and Sanford Bittle.
