Barbara Jean Cagley was born to Marion and Bernice (Cushing) Cagley on June 29, 1932 near Ionia, IA. She attended Ionia schools graduating in 1950. Barbara Jean Cagley was born to Marion and Bernice (Cushing) Cagley on June 29, 1932 near Ionia, IA. She attended Ionia schools graduating in 1950. She then attended the University of Northern Iowa until 1952, receiving her teaching certificate. Barbara taught school in Dumont, IA until 1954. She was united in marriage to Jerry Meyers on June 17, 1954 at St. Boniface Church in Ionia. The couple made their home in Lawler and the Lawler area. Jerry and Barbara owned and operated Meyers Locker and Superette from 1954 to 1988. Barbara returned to UNI in 1983 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985. Barbara was a substitute teacher in the area for several years. She was a driver for Zip's Truck Equipment, delivering tow trucks and flatbed auto transporters for seven years. Barbara enjoyed bowling, ballroom dancing, crossword puzzles, and playing piano. She was an excellent seamstress, an avid reader and was in the bridge club for 50 years. But most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her husband Jerry of Lawler; her children Mark(Cindy) Meyers of Aurora, CO, Margie Fuiten of Bloomington, IL, Gary (Janice) Meyers of Charles City, IA, Carol (Chris) Holmes of Arvada, CO and Craig Meyers of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren Heather (Sean) McCormick and Tonya Fuiten; three great grandchildren Chloe, Kyran and Kaden McCormick; sisters Shirley (John) VanAndell of Denver, CO, Gwen Schroeder of Texas City, TX, Maxine Cagley of Waterloo, IA and Charlotte Markle of New Hampton, IA; brother Marion "Bub" (Esther) Cagley of Ionia, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Marion and Bernice Cagley, infant son Brian who died of SIDS in 1964 and brother, Robert Cagley.
