Description	:	Gerald "Jerry" Meyers, age 89, of Lawler, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with Father Brian Dellaert officiating. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery in Ionia, IA, with lunch following at St. Boniface Church. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 PM on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home with a 7:00 PM Scriptural Wake Service. Read More	Gerald "Jerry" Meyers, age 89, of Lawler, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with Father Brian Dellaert officiating. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery in Ionia, IA, with lunch following at St. Boniface Church. Gerald Peter “Jerry” was born on May 16, 1929 to Cletus and Amelia (Roths) Meyers in Ionia, IA. He was a graduate of Ionia High School. After completing his education, Jerry enlisted in the Unites States Army where his served his country honorably during the Korean War. Upon his return home, Jerry was united in marriage to Barbara Cagley on June 17, 1954 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, IA. The couple made their home in Lawler, IA. Jerry and Barbara owned and operated Meyers Locker and Superette from 1954-1988. They then became drivers for Zip’s Truck Equipment delivering tow trucks and transporters for 17 years. He retired at the age of 79. Jerry enjoyed ballroom dancing, watching Jeopardy, live theater and opera. He and Barbara traveled the 48 continental United States. Jerry was a member of the Lawler American Legion and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Mark (Cindy) Meyers of Aurora, CO, Margie Fuiten of Bloomington, IL, Gary (Janice) Meyers of Charles City, IA, Carol (Chris) Holmes of Arvada, CO, and Craig Meyers of Aurora, CO; two grandchildren, Heather (Sean) McCormick and Tonya Fuiten; three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Kyran and Kaden; siblings, Jane McGrane of Ionia, IA, Sr. Melita Meyers of Wisconsin and Linda (Linus) Voves of Iona, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Barbara in 2014, a son, Brian in 1964; and his sister, Betty. Conway-Markham Funeral Home of New Hampton.
