Description	:	Alliance Times; Thursday, Jan. 26, 1911: Miss Basil Underwood, daughter of Cal Underwood of Carpenter, died in Sheridan, Wyoming of appendicitis. The remains were shipped to Alliance where interment will take place at Carpenter cemetery today. Miss Underwood was about twenty years of age and had spent the most of her life near Alliance. Rev. Read More	Alliance Times; Thursday, Jan. 26, 1911: Miss Basil Underwood, daughter of Cal Underwood of Carpenter, died in Sheridan, Wyoming of appendicitis. The remains were shipped to Alliance where interment will take place at Carpenter cemetery today. Miss Underwood was about twenty years of age and had spent the most of her life near Alliance. Rev. Alliance TIMES: "BROUGHT HERE FOR BURIAL" Many friends in Alliance and vicinity were shocked and grieved to learn of the death of Miss Basil Underwood, which occurred Wednesday morning at Sheridan, Wyo. Death was due to peritonitis. The remains arrived here Thursday morning on 42. Funeral services were held at the Carpenter church, twelve miles southwest of this city on Thursday morning at eleven o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. McNeil of the Baptist church of this city and the remains were laid to rest in Carpenter cemetery. The funeral was attended by an exceptionally large number of sympathizing friends and acquanintances. Deceased had made her home here since childhood, many friends will join the Times in extending sympathy to the sorrowing relatives. They both lied about their ages - he said he was 21 and she said she was 18, both were years younger than this. Her parents appeared to never acknowledge the marriage either in her obituary, gravestone, or in any other way. The marriage may have been annulled, but there is no record of that.
