Description	:	Mrs. Beatrice Norton Locklear of Laurinburg entered the joy of her Lord on Sept. 15, 2014. She passed away at the Edwin Morgan Center surrounded by her family. She was 91 years old. Beatrice was born Dec. 18, 1922, a loving daughter of the late Amos "Jack" Norton and Minnie Strickland Norton. Her parents passed when she was a child and she was raised by her adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Chavis. She was the devoted wife to the late Edward Wilson Locklear. Beatrice was born Dec. 18, 1922, a loving daughter of the late Amos "Jack" Norton and Minnie Strickland Norton. Her parents passed when she was a child and she was raised by her adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Chavis. She was the devoted wife to the late Edward Wilson Locklear. Mrs. Locklear spent her life raising her family on a farm in Scotland County and later she was employed at Toastmaster Watch Factory. She faithfully served the Lord and was a long time member of the Good News Chapel. Her favorite way to spend her time was telling stories, visiting with her family and reading her Bible. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Edward W. Locklear; three children, Odis Gibson Locklear, Wilma Locklear Bowen and Thernace Dale Locklear; grandchildren, Debora Locklear, Russell Lambert; great grandson, Clayton Bowen; brother, Mack Norton; two sisters, Lula Mae Lee and Retha Strickland Ebird; foster brothers, Hoover Chavis and Linberg Chavis.
