Description	:	Funeral services for Ben Vos, of Pella, who died April 18, 2000.were held April 22 at the Peoria Christian Reformed Church in Peoria, Iowa with Rev. Kenneth Dykstra officiating. Organist Margy Fynaardt and pianist Iris Vander Wal provided the music. Casket bearers were Kevin, Craig, Brian, Bradley, Randall, Joel, and Daniel Vos. Interment was in Peoria Cemetery. Ben Vos was born September 20, 1911 about two miles southeast of Peoria, Iowa to Adrian and Sarah (Vander Molen) Vos, the second of seven children. At the age of two the family moved to a farm about two miles northwest of Peoria. Ben attended the Peoria Christian Grade School graduating from there in 1925. He spent his entire life farming. On February 22, 1940, he married Matilda Jonker and they farmed near Peoria their entire married life. The had five children. Matilda died December 26 1985. Ben farmed until he moved to Hilltop South in Pella in November 1993. He was a lifetime member of the Peoria Christian Reformed Church for eighty-eight years of its 160 year history. He served as an elder and was a member of the Men's Society. He served on the Boards of Peoria Christian Grade School, Christian High School, Dordt College, Christian Opportunity Center, and Garden Chapel Funeral Home. He was an active member of the Gideons. Surviving are four children: three sons, Marvin A. Vos and wife Ruth, Paul E. Vos and wife Barbara, Ronald J. Vos and wife Nancy, a daughter, Beverly M. Vos, a daughter-in-law, Lois E. Vos, 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren Of his original family he leaves his sisters: Margaret Van Haaften and Anna Rose, both of Pella. He was preceded in death besides his wife, by his parents and three brothers: Peter G. Vos, Cornie Vos, and Martin Vos, and a sister, Anna, who died in early childhood. Memorials may be given for the Peoria Christian Grade School Endowment Fund, Dordt College, or the Mid America Seminary. Garden Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
