McClellan, son of James and Eleanora McClellan, was born at Victor on February 22, 1883 and received his education in the Victor school. July 15, 1906 he was united in marriage to Esther Hurst at Sioux City. They operated a grocery store and lunchroom in Carnforth for several years. McClellan, son of James and Eleanora McClellan, was born at Victor on February 22, 1883 and received his education in the Victor school. July 15, 1906 he was united in marriage to Esther Hurst at Sioux City. They operated a grocery store and lunchroom in Carnforth for several years. After they sold the business, they moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. where his wife died in 1955. He returned to Victor and made his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Manatt, until June 1959. Since then he had rooms in Victor, in the Nursing home at Montezuma and in the Nursing home in Grinnell where he passed away Saturday evening at 5 p.m. at the age of 84 years 11 months and 25 days. Ben, as he was called, was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Victor and Brooklyn for many years. He received his 50 year membership pin a few years ago. He is survived by one adopted son, James McClellan, a major in the Air Force, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. His parents, two sisters, Daisy, Mrs. M. H. Rice, and Frances, Mrs. Clyde Manatt, and two half sisters, Virginia, Mrs. Thomas Cheskle and Ina, Mrs. John R. Manatt, and a half-brother, Frank McClellan preceded him in death. Funeral services were held from the McAninch Chapel in Victor Monday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Fink officiating. Memorial services were conducted by the Masonic Corintian Lodge #174 of Brooklyn. One organ solo, "The Old Rugged Cross", was played by Mrs. Margaret Lyman. Casket bearers were Noel Coats, M. W. Felton, Hollis Fish, E. I. Lawton, Verne Ochletree, Al Fontinel. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor.
