Read More	Pine Bluff Commercial, Monday, November 1, 1948, Page 1 & 2: Benjamin Watson, Retired Lumberman, Dies Here Sunday Obit.—Benjamin Watson, 78, retired lumberman and resident of Sulphur Springs practically his entire lifetime, where he was prominently identified as a civic leader, died Sunday afternoon at 3:34 o’clock at the Davis hospital. Mr. Watson, who had been ill for two weeks was removed to the hospital Saturday morning to undergo treatment. He was born on July 18, 1870 at Toledo in Cleveland county, son of the late Rev. Benjamin and Winnie Watson, native of North Carolina. The Watson family moved to Sulphur Springs when he was quite young and he received his education in the schools of Jefferson county. Mr. Watson entered the lumber business as a young man, operating mills in the vicinity of Sulphur Springs until the time of his retirement in 1941. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Methodist church and the White Sulphur Lodge No. 122, F. and A Masons and the American War Dads of Pine Bluff. In addition to his wife, the former Miss Maggie Poynter of Pine Bluff, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Fred Divine of Sulphur Springs and Mrs. Gene McDonald of Sheridan, five sons, Benny Watson, Thomas Watson, Malone Watson, David Watson and Wesley Watson of Sulphur Springs, one brother, Will Watson of Sulphur Springs, a sister, Mrs. Nannie McKenzie of Sulphur Springs, seven grandchildren, Clem Watson, Benny Jean Watson, Negie Lee Watson, Winnie Ruth Watson, Wayne Divine, Maureen Divine of Sulphur Springs and Julie McDonald of Sheridan and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o’clock from the Sulphur Springs Methodist church in charge of the Rev. M. E. Burial will be in Fitzhugh cemetery with graveside services in charge of the White Sulphur Loge No. 122, F and A. Masons.
