He also built and operated a large store close to the roadside. This building had various uses throughout the years. The Sons of Temperance Lodge was organized and held many meetings there. After Bennett sold his home to Simon P. DeLong he moved to New Germany where he also operated a store. He later moved to the U.S.A. and died in California. Langille) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bridgewater Bulletin The death occurred at Los Angeles, California, on August 10th., of Bennett Morton, a former resident of New Germany. Mr. Morton, some twenty years ago, conducted a successful lumbering and general store business at New Germany and at Barss Corner. About six years ago, accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. James Zwicker of New Germany, he took up residence in California and conducted a landlord business. Mr. Morton leaves three daughters, Mrs. James Zwicker, who was with him at his death and whose husband and family reside in New Germany, Mr. Zwicker, being manager of the firm of Edward Zwicker & Sons, and Mrs. Myra and Mrs. Lohnes of Lunenburg; also two sons, Harold and Roy of California.
