He also was a school bus driver for USD school district #333 Concordia for 17 years. He enjoyed playing cards, farming, farm auctions, casinos and most of all spending time with family and friends. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was a Lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council #2114 Aurora & American Legion Post #76 of Concordia. Bernard is survived by his wife, Wilma, Aurora; 2 daughters, Lana Stolzenburg (Don), Concordia, KS.; Debbie Lant (Rick), Garwin, IA.; son-in-law, Larry Bye, Lincoln, NE.; step-daughter, Linda Moir (Mike), Spokane, WA.; step-sons, Jeff Owen (Kathy), Cherryvale, KS.; Calvin Owen (Sonja), Edgewater, MD.; Terry Owen (Melodie), Olathe, KS.; step-daughter, Rena Hamilton (John), Aurora, KS.; step-son, Robert Owen, Clay Center, KS.; 3 sisters, Delores Judd (Larry), Spokane, WA.; Geraldine Scott, Salina, KS.; Annabell Kogler (Marvin), Kipp, KS.; 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Helen, daughter, Kim William-Bye, step-son, Harold Lee McDowell, 2 brothers, Darrell & Elric Breault, sister, Dora Cottam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Aurora with Fr. David Metz officiating. Burial with Military Honors by US Army Big Red One and American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588 will follow the service at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Aurora. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2019 with a Knights of Columbus Rosary service starting at 6 pm all at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Family will receive friends after the Rosary service. The family suggests memorials to St. Peter’s Catholic Church or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the funeral home.
