McMahon, a prominent farmer of this vicinity, at the Akron Hospital on Wednesday evening, July 10, 1957, at the age of 49 years, 1 month and 14 days. Mr. McMahon, son of Mr. and Mrs. John McMahon, was born near Akron June 26, 1908, and had spent his entire life in this community. He attended parochial school at Hawarden and graduated from Liberty Consolidated high school in 1925. He farmed with his parents for several years. On January 16, 1945, he was united in marriage with Miss Vera Willer. They have farmed northeast of Akron since about 1930. He was a progressive farmer and active in farm organizations, where his services will be missed. He held the confidence and respect of all who knew him. Surviving are his wife, Vera; a daughter, Ruth Ann; three sisters, Mrs. Gladys, Hendricks and Miss Florence McMahon, both, of Alcester, S.D., and Mrs. Bernice McCue, of Elk Point, S.D., and four brothers, Clarence, of Sioux City; Joe, of Pocahontas, Ia.; Frank, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Ed., of Pierson, Ia. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Martin. Funeral services were held here Saturday morning in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Rev. B. Friedman, of Hawarden, officiating. Pallbearers were Ernest Lucken, Carl Hasenbank, Art Voss, J.H. Earnest, Roy Nielsen and Marvin Hitzemann. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery.
