Description	:	Bernhardt Henry William Heitman was born January 9, 1855 in Amt Tipoltz [Depholtz] Hanover, Germany. A few days later he was baptized in the Lutheran church. After his confirmation in the same church, his parents left for America in the year 1870. The family first settled in Iowa but in the spring of 1871 they again moved, this time to Nebraska, settling in the neighborhood of Kramer. Read More	Bernhardt Henry William Heitman was born January 9, 1855 in Amt Tipoltz [Depholtz] Hanover, Germany. A few days later he was baptized in the Lutheran church. After his confirmation in the same church, his parents left for America in the year 1870. The family first settled in Iowa but in the spring of 1871 they again moved, this time to Nebraska, settling in the neighborhood of Kramer. The deceased established a home and family of his own when he was united in marriage with Maria Schrammel, October 10, 1886. This union, which lasted 42 years, was blessed with six children. The oldest daughter died in the year 1891. The deceased is survived by his wife; three sons, William, Henry, and Edward, all living in or near Kramer; two daughters, Mrs. W. (Alvina) Ress of Lincoln, and Clara, living at the home place; one brother, three sisters, and three grandchildren. Mr. Heitman reached the ripe age of 74 years, 1 month, and 22 days. The cause of death was an operation for bladder trouble, about two years ago, of which he never recovered. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the home and Kramer Lutheran church, Rev Albert H. Cholcher officiating. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery at Kramer. A large gathering of neighbors and friends showed their last respects to him despite unfavorable road conditions. The following, all nephews of the deceased, were the active pallbearers: Fred Kattau, W.H. Kattau, Harry and Herman Baacke, Albert and Louis Heitman.
