Description	:	Bernice Virginia Baker, daughter of Roy N and May (Reed) Baker, was born June 8, 1919, near Overbrook, Kansas, and died November 11, 1952, at Vail hospital, Topeka. She attended both Overbrook schools and graduating fron high school in 1937. She attended Emporia State Teacher's college, majoring in kindergarten and primary departments, for two years and received her life certificate. She taught school for five years before accepting a position as secretary in the sales tax division of the State Commission of Revenue and Taxation where she served until recently. Read More	Bernice Virginia Baker, daughter of Roy N and May (Reed) Baker, was born June 8, 1919, near Overbrook, Kansas, and died November 11, 1952, at Vail hospital, Topeka. She attended both Overbrook schools and graduating fron high school in 1937. She attended Emporia State Teacher's college, majoring in kindergarten and primary departments, for two years and received her life certificate. She taught school for five years before accepting a position as secretary in the sales tax division of the State Commission of Revenue and Taxation where she served until recently. On September 13, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harold C Allen and was with him as much of the time as possible during the four years he was in the service. After receiving his discharge in 1946 they made their home in Topeka where they had since resided. She united with the Methodist church in Overbrook when young in years and changed her membership to the First Methodist church in Topeka the past few years. She was a member of the Topeka Chapter of OES and a member of the Fidelis club of Overbrook. Those who mourn her passing are her husband, Harold C Allen and an infant son of the home, her parents, Mr and Mrs Roy Baker, a number of aunts, uncles and cousins and a myriad of friends. Funeral services were held Thursday November 13, 1952 at 10am in Topeka with Dr Eugene M Frank officiating. Mrs Fern Hudson sang "In My Father"s Home Are Many Mansions"' accompanied by Mrs Harriet Anderson, organist. Services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Overbrook Methodist church with Rev Clayton Pittman of Kansas City, Kansas., officiating, assisted by Dr Frank and Rev Gail Garst. Wayne L Baker sang "An Evening Prayer" and "The Lord's Prayer" with Mrs Don Hoyt, organist. Casket bearers were Bernard O'Bryhom, Ernest Albright, John Coffman, Floyd Coffman, Carl Coffman, Robert Clark, Fred Marshall and John Cordts. Interment was in Overbrook cemetery.
