Bernice Evelyn Ocheltree Ormiston, daughter of George and Hattie M. Myerly Ocheltree, was born on a farm near Victor, Iowa, on March 2, 1899. She was one of eleven children. Her elementary education was in a rural school. She graduated from Victor High School in 1917. She taught in a one room rural school in Poweshiek County for three years. On April 7, 1920 she was united in marriage with Leslie Edwin Ormiston of Brooklyn. Mr. and Mrs. Ormiston farmed for fifty years in the Brooklyn, Malcom, and Hartwick areas. Mrs. Ormiston was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Brooklyn and a member of Grace UMW, a member of the Rebekah Lodge for more than 70 years, the G.W.W. Club, and the Women's Branch of the Farm Bureau. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Howard, one daughter, Lucile Pollock; one grandson, Scott and four brothers and six sisters. She is survived by her granddaughter and her husband, Barbara and Russell Glime of Vinton and several nieces and nephews. Nevenhoven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
