Description	:	Bernice LaVerna (Quandt) Woebke (1925 - 2000) Bernice LaVerna Woebke was born October 21,1925, the daughter of William and Alvena Alff Quandt. She died Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of seventy-four. Bernice was born near Charter Oak, Iowa, where she lived with her family. Read More	Bernice LaVerna (Quandt) Woebke (1925 - 2000) Bernice LaVerna Woebke was born October 21,1925, the daughter of William and Alvena Alff Quandt. She died Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of seventy-four. Bernice was born near Charter Oak, Iowa, where she lived with her family. She was baptized in Christ November 22, 1925 at the St. John Lutheran Church, Charter Oak and later confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa on March 29, 1942. Bernice received her education in a rural school in Paradise Township. On February 8, 1954, Bernice was united in marriage to Alvin Woebke at Zion Lutheran Church, Denison. The couple made their home on a farm in Crawford County. Bernice worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Drennen for ten years and also for Dr. Nixon. In 1966, Alvin died and Bernice continued to live on the farm until moving to Denison in 1995. She was in the care and treatment of St. Joseph Hospital for the past six weeks. Bernice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Denison. She was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed the time spent with her family. In her leisure time she enjoyed the challenge of putting together puzzles, playing cards and bingo. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Alvin. Survivors include two sons, Bernard DeConnick of Oregon City, Oregon; John DeConnick of Denison; one daughter, Patricia Meseck and her husband, Allan of Ricketts; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Va-Netta Spreng of Arion; DeLoris Evers of Dakota City, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 16, 2000 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist, Henry Henningsen singing "Amazing Grace" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and congregational hymn "I Know that My Redeemer Lives". Honorary Pallbearers were: John Poggensee, Clarence Denker, Les Hulsebus, Loren Langholz, Gib Zeimen, Melvin Ladwig, Martin Lally, Albert Adams and Dennis Denker. Pallbearers were: John Boettger, David Adams, Dan Woebke, Larry Spreng, Neil Woebke and Irvin Zeimen. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, served by the Ladies Aid.
