(McGlothen) Vance, was born Aug. 21, 1901, in Warren County and died July 2, 1987, at Indianola Good Samaritan Center at the age of 85. On Oct. 15, 1919, she was united in marriage to Vodra J. Myers in Indianola. To this union a son, Richard Lee, and a daughter, Verda Mame, were born. She and Vodra farmed in the Spring Hill area before moving to Indianola in 1966. (McGlothen) Vance, was born Aug. 21, 1901, in Warren County and died July 2, 1987, at Indianola Good Samaritan Center at the age of 85. On Oct. 15, 1919, she was united in marriage to Vodra J. Myers in Indianola. To this union a son, Richard Lee, and a daughter, Verda Mame, were born. She and Vodra farmed in the Spring Hill area before moving to Indianola in 1966. Bernice had been a resident of Indianola Good Samaritan Center for the past 13 months. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vodra who died March 24, 1986; and two sisters, Freda Hastings and Geraldine Vance. She is survived by a son, Richard, an a daughter, Verda Davis, both of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Donna Cunningham of Des Moines; four grandchildren, James Davis of Novato, Calif., Sharon DiDoneto of Waukee, Kathy Myers of Granger and Nancy Graham of Des Moines; seven great-grandchildren, Danee and Drisa Davis, Brian and Darci Bowen, Nicholas DiDonato and Eric and Trent Graham; and other relatives. Funeral serviced conducted by the Rev. John W. Long of Chapel of Faith were held July 6, 1987, at Overton Funeral Home. Interment was in Webb Cemetery in Spring Hill. # # # Thurs., October 30, 1919 Indianola Herald Spring Hill - On October 14th, Vodra Myers and Miss Bernice Vance were married at Indianola. Both of these young people grew up in this vicinity. All join in wishing them a long, happy and prosperous life.
